Pokémon Go players are everywhere, & for businesses in areas with lots of Pokémon Masters roaming about the game can be a source of revenue & a great way to advertise. I wrote a basic guide to using Pokémon Go for businesses, but if you’re ready for something a little more advanced, let’s talk about the easiest way to get foot traffic through the game: Lure Modules.
What Are Lure Modules In Pokémon Go
Lure Modules are beacons that can be seen by players over a large distance. They’re called Lure Modules because they ‘lure’ Pokémon to wherever they’re dropped, which means players out to catch critters love them.
Benefits Of Using Pokémon Lure Modules
Players can see Lures dropped just about everywhere within walking distance of their current location. So if you have a Lure Module active, you’ll probably have Pokémon players around.
Anyone can buy Lure Modules in Pokémon Go; the game has in-app purchases, so you buy ‘coins’ to get useful items that would otherwise be scarce or can help speed up your success in the game. For about $10 worth of coins, you can get a pack of eight Lure Modules that will last for 30 minutes each — so about 4 hours of customer attractant. Not bad, right?
Pokémon Go Lure Modules For Strategic Marketing
Businesses have to be strategic about using Lure Modules to get the most bang for their buck, though. Post the times you plan on dropping Lure Modules to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat. etc. If you have a sandwich board or street signage, you can always advertise your Pokémon Lure times there, too! Doing a Pokémon Happy Hour on slow nights could garner you return patrons as well.
Businesses in central locations can drop Lures during the slow parts of the day (& night!) to get more people in the door, & businesses in quieter locations can drop Lures to maximize their foot traffic when there are events in the area likely to draw crowds.
How To Get The Most Out Of Lure Modules
If you buy Lure Modules, always drop them well inside your storefront. Otherwise, players will probably just access them from the street. People are shy about barging in to someone’s store, so a sign in the window that says ‘We Have Pokémon!’ can make this tactic much more effective.
If you have any more questions about Lure Modules for your business (or just about anything in Pokémon Go more generally) let me know in the comments & I’ll be happy to take a crack at answering!
